This chapter was very gospel based which was very refreshing to just come back to Gods word. It was very cool how the author tied in the gospel to leading worship in the way he did. He explained how "The gospel is not merely one of many possible themes we can touch on as we come to worship God. It is the central and foundational theme” (130).
I loved this chapter because it taught me how to take my everyday bible reading and Christian studies and incorporate them into leading worship. It reminded me of the song Heart Of Worship and how we must not just say its all about God, but we must sing Gods gospel which I thought was very powerful.

Chapter 7: Worship Matters

This chapter in Bob Kaughlins, Worship Matters, was about being faithful as a worship leader. When I first read the title I was thinking this must mean to stay strong with good stamina throughout performances. It did not mean that. It was referring to "faithful means fulfilling the desires of another. We don’t define our ministry; God does" (103).
The part that really stuck out to me in this chapter was the quote that says We don't define our ministry. As a leader I find myself often thinking of the people in band and how we each contribute to the worship set and band. I get so caught up in it that worship becomes about US and what WE are doing for the worship. When I should be remembering that it is about GOD. It isn't us that defines the quality of the music or the message it speaks. It is ALL GOD and that was very powerful to me.

Today I read chapter 6 of worship matters. It was about what a worship leader does and how it is not us that is the true worship leader. It is Jesus. This was very interesting as you always hear about how worship is ABOUT Jesus not us. But I have ever heard Jesus IS the worship leader.
This was really cool for me because as I have taken more of a leadership role in my schools worship band this year, it is such a heart warming and convicting remainder that it is God who is leading worship. Not us. We cannot lead worship by ourselves for the gifts of our music abilities come from God. He is leading worship through us. We are merely His instruments to project the sound of love to those we are singing with.
